No Fear o' Eras

Instructions

Note:If your monitor is small and you can't see all three pictures at the same time, create a new browser window by holding down the mouse button and selecting something like "New Window with this Frame."

Note #2: The images in No Fear o' Eras come from the National Gallery of Art and they are drawn from that Web server, so if the images are "broken," that probably means you're not currently on the Internet. You will need to get on the Net to see the images. You can find out more about this in the teacher's guide.

Instructions
To help you notice things, use the questions listed below the paintings as well as the general questions.

You may also want to review the elements of design to get a sense of the choices painters have available when they create or explore the visual glossary.

The best idea is to explore the paintings on your own to look for significant similarities that show a shared sense of "art." The "more info" link beneath each painting goes to a page on the National Gallery of Art Web site that gives more info on the artwork.

When you have your ideas, you can fill in the text field asking you about the "Three main things artworks of this era have in common." You might find it helpful to read some tips for gathering your ideas. You'll probably want to see the feedback rubric that you and others could use to rate how well you've done.
