Introduction
Surf's up! Grab your brain and head for the further reaches of cyberspace. There's a lot to learn in this information age. Using the Web allows you to discover tons more than you may have ever known possible. Below is a list of technology projects about prehistoric humans. Surf the Internet links on this page to find the information you need to complete the tasks. Have fun and earn points!


Questions
  1. How do real archaeologists work at a dig? See photos! Look at the photographs of the steps of a real dig! Then 'start' the artifact hunt. Your job is to list the sequence of steps in a dig. Then write about an artifact and sketch it. (25 pts.)



  2. Explore the INTERACTIVE tool link. Then draw a tool you've never studied before. Also tell what you learned from the interactive links. (25 pts.)



  3. Where would you live? Select the best and worst of prehistoric housing! This site displays a variety of stone age homes. Rank the homes from 1 to 10 with #1 being the most desirable and 10 the least desirable. Then sketch the most livable and explain why you feel it would be your favorite if you were a prehistoric boy or girl. Include beauty, protection from the elements, and personal opinion. (50 pts.)



  4. The Ice Man--What did he eat? See how the scientists discovered what he ate for his last meal. Read about the iceman's last meal. List four clues (such as pollen, bone, etc.) found in his body which lead us to know what he ate for his last meal. (25 pts.) Then draw and label his last meal. (25 pts.)



  5. What did cave artists paint? Now, you be the artist! Look at all of the beautiful examples of cave art. Then copy one slowly and carefully, using crayons and charcoal on brown paper. (25 pts.)



  6. What is the difference between hunting/gathering and pastoralism? See this site and then write a paragraph for each of the two questions on the site. (25 pts)






The Internet Resources
