Introduction
The American Southwest States of Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas form a geographically diverse region of the United States. The Southwest has various landforms, including deserts, mesas, and high plains in the west and rolling hills and deciduous forests in the east. The climate is arid in most of the Southwest although it is humid on the eastern edge of the Southwest. Some of the major landforms of the American Southwest include the Colorado Plateau, the Great Plains, the Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, the Painted Desert, Carlsbad Caverns, and the Gulf Coastal Plain.

Arizona Home Page - Nicknamed the Grand Canyon State, Arizona was the 48th state in the Union. With a population of over 5 million residents, it is the 20th most populous state and the 6th largest state in land area with 113,642 square miles.
New Mexico Home Page - Nicknamed the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico was the 47th state in the Union. With a population of almost 2 million residents, it is the 36th most populous state and the 5th largest state in land area with 121,359 square miles.
Oklahoma Home Page - Nicknamed the Sooner State, Oklahoma was the 46th state in the Union. With a population of almost 3.5 million residents, it is the 27th most populous state and the 20th largest state in land area with 69,903 square miles.
Texas Home Page - Nicknamed the Lone Star State, Texas was the 28th state in the Union. With a population of almost 21 million residents, it is the 2nd most populous state and the 2nd largest state in land area with 261,914 square miles.
