Introduction
Need a graphic organizer for one of your daily lesson plans? Check out these websites to find graphic organizers that will help meet the needs of ALL the learners in your classroom!
Introduction of Teaching Strategies - According to this website, 'This page is dedicated to making it easier to implement a variety of teaching methods and techniques. Here you'll find scores of teaching strategies that help students take more responsibility for their own learning and enhance the process of teaching for learning.' Some of the strategies include graphic organizers and templates for these graphic organizers.
Laura Candler's Website - While there aren't a lot of graphic organizers per se on this site, Laura Candler has created templates for some graphic organizers as well as a variety of social studies related activities. Be sure to check out her materials for a 'free' stock market simulation.
NCREL Site for Graphic Organizers - Includes examples of graphic organizers such as spider web, fishbone, comparison/contrast matrix, etc.
ReadingQuest.org: Making Sense in Social Studies - According to their website: 'ReadingQuest is designed to provide you with the philosophical bases for sound comprehension strategy instruction, directions for a range of comprehension and content reading strategies, and printable handouts and masters for transparencies.'
STEPS handbook - This awesome website was created for the social studies teachers in Edmond, Oklahoma. In addition to graphic organizers, it also has reading writing, and note-taking strategies as well as RUBRICS! The activities are available in PDF and sometimes are accompanied by an explanation/directions for using and a social studies-related activity. It's one of my favorite websites!
