The Internet Resources

All Student Email - Link to LAUSD Email. Students use 'MyMail' link. See Librarian if you do not have an LAUSD email account.
Book Catalog - Santee's OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) - Click here to find out what books we have in the school library. Use the call number to find the book.
E-Books : Reference Books Online - Access many of the Library's reference books in their online version (Gale Virtual Reference Library ). Use our school's short name (all lower case) as the password, then click proceed. Search by document title or key word in the hundred+ books available
Eyewitness to History - History through the eyes of those who lived it.
Google Search Engine - A fast search engine with no annoying pop-ups.
LAUSD Digital Library - You must use an LAUSD account to access these great resources off-campus. See the College Counselor or the Librarian to sign up for an account.
Librarians' Internet Index - A source for websites you can trust, selected and reviewed by professional librarians. Click on the topic or subtopics of your search.
Metasearch Engine - Dogpile - Searches Google, Yahoo, LookSmart, AskJeeves/Teoma, Google ADS, and MSN search all at the same time and returns the best results from each. Be aware of 'sponsored-by' or purchased links.

CIA World Fact Book - Your tax dollars at work with facts on every country of the world.
Culture Grams - Experience the cultures of 190 countries and the 50 U.S. states, with in-depth information, statistics, maps, short biographies of famous people and even recipes.
Flags of the World - Scroll down to coloring book to get black and white drawings of the flag you want. Print two copies so you can records what color each section should be.

California Colleges and Universities - Click on the link that says 'California Community and Technical Colleges.'
Career Cruising - When you first visit the site, enter 'southla' as user name and 'newschool' as the password. You will then create a personal profile to access for future visits.

College Search - Use the College MatchMaker to find colleges that meet all of your needs or use the College QuickFinder to explore a school already familiar to you. Either way, you'll find the latest info on 3,600+ colleges.

Monster Jobs - Enter your job interest in the 'keyword' box or use the pull down menus to select a job category.
National Universities -- Top Colleges - Links to the top colleges as ranked by US News and World Report.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - A government occupation database which describes the Nature of the Work, Working Conditions, Training, Qualifications Needed, as well as Job Outlook, Earnings and Related Occupations.
Peterson's College Planner - Online planning tools including preparing for tests and paying for schools plus an interactive search tool for thousands of colleges.

Classroom Clip Art - Browse catagories suitable for K-12 school projects. More than 42,000 images available.
Copyright Guidelines for Educators - An older, but still useful quick resource on what and how much copying may be legally done by educators.
Easy to write (and get!) teacher grants - See Ms. Lord if you have questions. She has already received two of her requests. Mr. Schilp got a surround sound system and Ms. Cataldo got a class set of novels. Try it!

Rubistar -- An Online Rubric Creator - RubiStar is a free, web-based tool to help the teacher who wants to use rubrics but does not have the time to develop them from scratch. Go to the tutorial -- it includes information on changing categories, their headings and content. It's fast and rubrics can be saved online for updating and editing.
Web English Teacher - 'Web English Teacher presents the best of K-12 English / Language Arts teaching resources: lesson plans, WebQuests, videos, biography, e-texts, criticism, jokes, puzzles, and classroom activities. Permission to link is granted to any educational site.'
