Virtual Reference Library - The VRL is a subject-based, reliable, internet directory with special focus on Canadian and Ontario information.A partnership between public libraries in Ontario,it was begun by the Toronto Public Library in 1999.
Academic Info - An advanced academic directory. A must for senior students!
Alta Vista - good search engine
Ask.com - A friendly search engine that can organize and unify search results.
Clusty - Formerly called 'Vivisimo', this very helpful metasearch engine automatically 'clusters' or groups search results into meaningful categories relevant to the original query.Essential for all serious students using the Web.Students benefit by viewing clusters,sources,and sites!!!!!
Debbie Abilock's ' Noodle Tools' - Wonderfully helpful site that gives dozens of types of research or questions that you may need to investigate and then points to great sources appropriate to each.
Google - Most popular all-round search engine. However, it is not to be used solely, especially at the senior level.
Google Directory - Google's listing of the best sources for various topics. A directory ...not a search engine !
Kart00 - One of a kind metasearch engine that searches other search engines,gathers results,compiles them and then represents them in a series of interactive maps. The 'mind-map approach'!
Librarian's Index to the Internet - excellent directory with more than 6500 sites selected and sorted for research
Pagebull - A visual search engine that helps visual learners to find a specific page faster ! Wow !
SCIRUS - for scientific information only - The most comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet. A 'must' for senior science students !
The Invisible Web ( aka The Hidden Web , The Deep Web) - Incredibly helpful site to help you access the body of web information (maybe 500 times larger than the fixed,static web) that regular search engines do not search and index.
