- This website has some nice graphics and animations to explain the physics of sound.

- An interactive site that teaches about sound by allowing you to click on the following categories: The Science of Sound, Good Vibrations, Music to Our Ears, Uses of Sound, and What is Music.

- A great interactive site for learning about sound.
BrainPop - Sound
- A very popular children's site - each topic has a quiz and a short video to go with it.
NIDCD Kids and Teachers Site
- This interactive site was created by the National Institute Deafness and other Communication Disorders. Very kid-friendly.
Energy in the Air
- From the ThinkQuest library, this is a great interactive site about the instruments in an orchestra and how sound is created. Lots of pictures and music - but make sure you have Real Player so you can hear the sounds.
Edison Recordings
- You can hear the first records produced by the Edison company, as well as a reenactment of his first actual recording of 'Mary Had a Little Lamb.'
Musical Craft Projects
- This site has links to directions for making different musical instruments.
Decibel Levels
- This chart shows the decibel levels of different noises.
Virtual Tour of the Ear
- Decriptions and very details graphics showing the different parts of the ear.
Sound
- This is an informative site with facts about how sound is made and how animals use sound. There is also a section containing experiments for learning about sound.
Sound FX Page
- This site has sound effects galore. Listen to drum sounds, body sounds, animal sounds, laugh sounds, and much more!
Sound Safari
- Click on a location on the map and hear an animal sound from that area. Click again for a picture and description of that animal.
Marine Mammal Recordings
- A really neat site that allows you to listen to marine animals. Each sound is accompanied by a picture, description and a spectogram of the sound.
Musical Instrument Library
- Listen to, see a picture, and read a description for each musical instrument in an orchestra.
ATT Research Lab
- Learn firsthand how TSS telephones work for the hearing impaired. Just type in some words and listen to how it sounds. Great to show students how technology can help the hearing impaired.
Pulse of the Planet
- Part of the National Geographic site, this features 2-minute sound bytes from different places around the world and photos to supplement them.
