• Ilana Schwartz Interactive Design - Animal Cell - An animated animal cell showing the organelles at work.

• Dennis Kunkel Photography - Photographs of various cells and organelles under various microscopes.

• Mitochondria: Architecture Dictates Function - This link has a great picture of what mitochondria looks like, and also a lot of detailed information as to what it does.

• Eukaryotic Cell Pictures - This is an awesome page full of really neat pictures and great descriptions of the various eukaryotic organelles.

So what exactly do they do?

• Gray's Anatomy - Description of the various parts of the animal cell. Short discussion on embryology and cell reproduction with the various phases of mitosis.

• A Close Look At Cells - A listing of each organelle and a description of it's structure and function.

• Brain Pop! - This site has a great movie about animal cells. If you view the science movies, there are a few others on the cells of the body.

• Cells Alive! - Web page has numerous resources along with an interactive animation of an animal cell in mitosis.

• The Cell - This page discusses the major organelles of cells and also talks about the difference between animal and plant cells.

• Cell Cycle! - This is a great animation and description of what occurs during the interphase portion of cell reproduction.
