River Murray urban users group - This site provides information about the Murray Darling Basin and its importance to communities in South Australia. It has useful fact sheets on issues concerning the river.
Rivers of the world - Links to information about river features, landscapes and systems; significant rivers of the world, including the Murray River, river issues, conservation and information for teachers.

Water/catchment care and the environment

Department for Environment and Heritage, South Australia - Information on wetlands, storm water, waste water and sewage, irrigation, water quality, coastal and marine environment, as well as study skills information
Watercare - Explores the way water systems and resources play an important role in the natural and built environment.

International Year of Freshwater

International Year of Freshwater 2003 - The United Nations has declared 2003 the Year of Freshwater. The aim is to increase the awareness of the importance of sustainable freshwater use, management and protection.
International Year of Freshwater in Australia - Environment Australia - Of vital importance to all Australians is the availability of freshwater for human consumption, agricultural production and the health of our ecosystems. The International Year of Freshwater gives all Australians an opportunity to learn more and become involved in freshwater issues.
