Using Two Browser Windows

Using Filamentality and searching at the same time can be a breeze if you use two separate browser windows. Filamentality usually creates a new window when you click a search engine link so you can search in one window and keep Filamentality open in another window. (If this doesn't work, try Opening Your Own New Window.)

Once a new window is open, drag the top one a little aside so that you can get to either one whenever you like. (You might have to resize the window). This way you can keep both the search engine and Filamentality open for later copying/pasting between them. You might want to close the search engine window(s) when you're finished with them so you don't clutter your desktop / program manager / brain.

To bring a window to the front, click on it or select from your browser's "Windows" menu.

Opening Your Own New Window

This is for sure available to Netscape Navigator 2.0+ and Mosaic / Internet Explorer 2.0+ users. What you do is:

    altavista
  1. Choose the search engine you want to use. Alta Vista, for example, and put the cursor over the link.

    New Window with this Link

  2. Click and hold down on the button (right button for PCs) and you'll get a pop-up menu that will allow you to open a New Window with this Link! (Mosaic / Internet Explorer have the same feature with slightly different wording).
