San Diego State Applications Camp Getting Graphics
for your
Web page:
Grabbing Web Images

You've found the perfect image for your Web activity on another person's Web page. Did you know you can save that image to your hard drive? (It's always a good idea to ask permission first and may be imperative in some cases.) With Netscape, it's easy to do. This lesson will show you how and link you to some online image libraries.

-----------------------------------------------------

Save a Web Image

  1. For Macintosh, click the mouse down on the desired image and hold it until a pop-up menu appears. For Windows, click the mouse down with the right mouse button to see the menu.

  2. Select Save this Image As... from the pop-up menu.

  3. When prompted, save the file with an appropriate name and location.

If you're using NCSA Mosaic, EIT MacWeb or WinWeb, see Downloading Graphics (from the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction).

Online Image Libraries

Though you can grab Web graphics from any page, you'll need permission to use them unless you get them from an online graphics library. Here are a few to get you started.
